England wins if they can avoid playing Spain.

For me it's either Germany or France.
But Belgium is looking really good as well.

I saw after my post that Marcus Rashford has got into the England team. That is great news. I just hope his lack of experience isn't too detrimental to the team as a whole.

He'll most likely play the Theo Walcott role of 2006, just there for the experience, most likely without seeing any playing time unless the last group game leaves us in a position to play squad players/rest first team players.

I think England have a decent chance, but there are quite a few strong teams out there (Germany, France, Spain, Belgium). At the very least we should be able to top the group and get a favourable last 16 draw, since the extra teams mean there'll be some 3rd place teams available to play.

I don't really like the new thing where the best 3rd places go through. But I guess there's no other way with 24 teams.
I gets the tournament should've stuck to 16 teams or doubled up to 32.

I don't think it makes a difference. Some of the third placed teams would just be second place in the extra groups that 32 teams would add, since 16 teams would still go through. But at least 32 teams makes it less complicated. First plays second, rather than first plays third, unless x happens and y also happens, then they play 3 from group C etc.

The only problem 32 teams brings is that it severely waters down the competition. The groups are already looking sparse, imagine thinning it out even further. You'd only have one, maybe two tough groups. I'd much rather 16 teams where almost every team is decent, than 32 teams where half of them are just making up the numbers.

Yeah, 32 teams would mean that more half of the UEFA gets qualified. 16 teams should still be it.

What games are you looking forward to?

The games between Belgium/Italy/Sweden are all games I want to watch. Germany/Poland should be good too. Turkey/Croatia/Spain stands out as a good group trio, even though Spain will most likely top that group easily.

And obviously the England games too.

I'm going to be watching as many games as possible.
No Netherlands though but for once that means I can watch a tournament without pressure.

I'll definitely check out England - Wales, Spain - Croatia and Belgium - Italy.

England has a terrific chance this year, they've looked strong the last 2 years. France will struggle without Benzema, so Griezmann needs to be REALLY on for them to win. They got a solid defense though, should be difficult to get through. Germany is at their peak right now and should have a massive chance too.

Spain, Belgium and Portugal outsiders.

I don't consider Spain to be outsiders. They dominated England last time they met.

Depends on what goalkeeper they use. Knowing Del Bosque, it's gonna be Casillas.

First match tomorrow.
21:00 CET, Stade de France: France VS Romania.
First predictions?
I'm thinking comfortable 2-0 win for France.

France really should be winning, but Romania actually haven't lost a game since June 2014. Granted most have them have been draws and the quality of opposition hasn't been great, but I'll go for a 1-1 draw.
